Drudge was funny last night. He does a three hour radio version of his fake news/all spin web site Sunday nights. I sometimes have it on.
He opened last night's spin session with criticism of the NEW YORK TIMES for having a front page story on Iraq( and other news) rather than total coverage of nothing but Hurricane Katrina.
Just stop and think for a moment here.
Now, why would a right-wing media propaganda operative like Drudge not want coverage of Iraq(or anything else) and instead have total front page coverage of a storm (that wasn't even to come ashore for ten hours and nobody knew where)?
The calm and mundane part of me just laughs.
Another part of me doesn't. This other part of me thinks about a new, newer, newest 'Pearl Harbor' type of event.
Think about what's going on. The occupation of Iraq is a diaster. Top members of the Bush Administration are under investigation by a grand jury for what quite possibly could be treason. Another investigation is focused on espionage involving the Pentagon/DoD and Israel. The DoD is also fighting a court order for the release of more (and worse) Abu Ghraib photos and videos. The SCOTUS nominee, John Roberts, may have left his fingerprints on Reagan era documents that could(should) lead to further inquiries into Iran/Contra. By any account things are not looking good for GWB and his jolly band of 'thugs in suits'.
A distraction is badly needed. Nature and the media didn't cooperate last night and this morning.
I wonder what Plan B is?
Watch yourselves out there.
