Republicans fear Iraq could hurt them in '06: http://tinyurl.com/7w3gg

The above article appeared in today's NY Times and in tomorrow's Intl. Herald Tribune and I assume many places via syndication.

But, you know, the smart money should look at the 'could' in the title very carefully.

Who really knows? Who knows who's in office due to vote scamming. I'm certain the pResident is. In 2000 THEY STOPPED COUNTING THE VOTES in Florida and the Supreme Court appointed Bush. There was massive fraud in '04. I personally know people who were phoned the night before the election and told their polling place had changed when it hadn't. Republican phone-banks were humming that night in an effort to suppress turnout. In key precincts in key states some people had to wait in line 18 hours because of a shortage of voting machines and/or ballots. Who knows how many people just couldn't wait that long. Some people can't take five week vacations, you know. They got shit they gotta do.
So there's that. Nobody knows who's votes get counted.

And there's this. The thirty-something % of likely voters who don't read 'real' newspapers, watch 24/7 cable news and listen to RW talk radio. These people are in a complete bubble when it comes to knowing what really goes on in the world. These people don't know that according to current polling they're in the minority on most things Bush/Iraq/etc.
So when an election is stolen they don't know it. I don't know if it's fair to call these people stupid but there's certainly a willful ignorance that bears little difference from true, outright, plain dumb as dirt.

'Rush' Limbaugh told these people the other day that Cindy Sheehan had 'forged documents' to fake that her son, Casey, had been killed in Iraq. I'd feel sorry for people who believed this if they weren't totally screwing up the United States.

These dim-bulbs keep our elections just close enough to be stolen.

It's just sad...
