There's a complete transcript of yesterday's MEET THE PRESS interview with Matt Cooper at EDITOR AND PUBLISHER:

Here's an abridgment edited with an eye toward avoiding dizziness from right wing spin. (Contains spoilers):

"MR.RUSSERT: For the record, the first time you learned that Joe Wilson's wife worked for the CIA was from Karl Rove?
MR. COOPER: That's correct."

No ellipses. No dots. No fudging. All these words appeared together in the interview as presented here.

So even if Mr. Rove is not guilty according to the letter of the law he is guilty according to the spirit of the law.

"I don't know of anybody in my administration who leaked classified information. If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action." --George W. Bush, September 30, 2003.
"I would like this to end as quickly as possible so we know the facts and if someone committed a crime they will no longer work in my administration." -- George W. Bush, July 18, 2005

Which is why Bush used the word "crime" in his statement today. Because in Bush World it's OK to have done something wrong as long as you're not adjudicated to have done so.

Which I understand. In his epic Oedipal struggle with his Father the younger Bush aspires to have to pardon fewer of his accomplices than did his Father at the end of his illustrious term of office.
